From Pain to Professional Practice
Born after neonatal surgery that left him with a permanent structural imbalance, including a 4cm leg length difference and inward leg rotation, Mario spent much of his early life adapting to pain, movement restrictions, and physical asymmetry.
At 28, a surfing accident caused severe spinal injury, partial paralysis, and chronic pain. Conventional medicine offered pain management, but not full resolution. Mario was told to accept limitation.
He refused.
Instead, he began exploring somatic bodywork, fascia release, nervous system regulation, movement therapy, breathwork, trauma healing, osteopathic principles, and structural integration. What began as a personal search for healing became the foundation of the Body Awakening Method.
Mario’s turning point came when he experienced a form of somatic bodywork that did not treat the body as a broken object. Instead, it worked with the body as an intelligent, responsive system.
For the first time, his fascia, nervous system, posture, breath, and emotional holding patterns were engaged together.
This experience changed everything.
It showed Mario that chronic pain, structural tension, trauma responses, and emotional holding are not separate problems. They are often connected through the body’s learned patterns of protection, adaptation, and survival.
This understanding became the foundation of Body Awakening Journey.
His recovery launched a global pilgrimage, not to collect certificates, but to find the missing links. What made the body hold pain for decades? What allowed it to release? Why did some approaches work on the tissue but miss the nervous system? Why did others regulate the system but leave the structure untouched?
Mario trained in anatomy and osteopathic principles, somatic bodywork and trauma neuroscience, movement therapy, breathwork, and fascia research. He worked with healers and scientists, elders and clinicians, in studios and remote communities across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, Australasia, and the Pacific.
His own body was the laboratory. Each of the 30,000+ client sessions that followed was a refinement. The Body Awakening Method is what emerged, not a technique, but a complete somatic education system that integrates what no single modality offers alone.
4cm leg length difference, inward rotation. A life spent adapting, moving, and questioning what the body holds and why.
Conventional medicine offered management, not resolution. The search for a real answer began here.
Somatic bodywork educated his fascia and nervous system rather than treating symptoms. The experience of embodied healing was irreversible, and became the foundation of everything that followed.
Anatomy, osteopathic principles, trauma neuroscience, fascia research, movement therapy, breathwork, somatic bodywork, synthesised through 30,000+ client sessions across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, Australasia, and the Pacific.
Three certification levels. Online and live formats. Students and practitioners across the world. The work is now a transmission, not just a practice.
The Body Awakening Method is a complete somatic education system that integrates fascia release, structural bodywork, nervous system regulation, breathwork, movement therapy, emotional release, and embodied awareness.
Unlike approaches that focus only on physical symptoms, the Body Awakening Method works with the body as a whole system. It helps students understand how pain, posture, trauma, movement, breath, and emotional patterns are connected.
The method is designed for people who want to release chronic tension, reconnect with their body, process stored emotional stress, or become certified somatic practitioners.
Mario didn’t set out to build a method. He set out to understand why some approaches healed the tissue but missed the nervous system – and why others regulated the system but left the structure untouched.
Fascia is the body’s connective tissue network. It surrounds muscles, organs, bones, nerves, and joints. When fascia becomes restricted, it can affect posture, movement, pain, and emotional holding. The Body Awakening Method works with fascia to support structural release and physical integration.
The nervous system controls how the body responds to stress, safety, threat, and emotion. Through trauma-informed somatic practices, students learn how fight, flight, freeze, and shutdown patterns can become stored in the body, and how regulation can support deeper healing.
The method is influenced by osteopathic principles that view the body as one connected system. Structure and function are deeply related, and the body has an inherent ability to reorganise when given the right support.
Movement, breath, and embodied awareness help the body release held tension without force. These practices allow students to listen to the body, build presence, and reconnect with natural movement.
Many healing approaches separate the physical body from the emotional body. Some focus on muscles and posture but ignore the nervous system. Others focus on emotional regulation but do not address structural holding patterns.
The Body Awakening Method brings these layers together.
It works because it supports:
The result is a deeper process of transformation that supports the physical, emotional, energetic, and perceptual layers of the body.
Our mission is to make complete somatic healing education accessible to people around the world, whether they are beginning their own healing journey or learning to guide others.
We believe healing is not something done to the body. It is something the body learns to do when it receives the right education, the right environment, and the right guidance.
Body Awakening Journey exists to help people understand the body as an intelligent system - one capable of releasing pain, processing stored trauma, restoring movement, and awakening deeper presence.
Body Awakening Journey is a somatic healing and bodywork education system founded by Mario Sanchez. It combines fascia release, nervous system regulation, breathwork, movement therapy, emotional release, and embodied awareness to support self-healing and practitioner training.
Mario Sanchez is the founder of Body Awakening Journey and the creator of the Body Awakening Method. His work was shaped by his own recovery from chronic pain and spinal injury, followed by more than 25 years of research, practice, and teaching across the world.
No. Body Awakening Journey is not a medical treatment or replacement for medical care. It is a somatic education and bodywork approach designed to support body awareness, nervous system regulation, movement, and personal transformation.
No prior experience is required to begin. The programs are designed to support beginners, self-healing students, and experienced practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of the body.
The method works with fascia, posture, breath, movement, nervous system patterns, emotional holding, trauma responses, and embodied awareness.
Yes. Body Awakening Journey offers a structured certification pathway for students who want to move from self-healing into professional somatic facilitation.
